Journaling Day 19

John 19:2 The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head.
I can’t imagine them doing this without ALSO hurting themselves. Isn’t that the way it is with sin. We may be doing it cause we think it’s fun, maybe because we want to prove Christ wrong… Either way, it hurts us both.

…They clothed him in a purple robe 3 and went up to him again and again, saying, “Hail, king of the Jews!” And they struck him in the face.
Then we dress our sin up all nice and act like it’s no big deal. Our buddies cheer us on…

19 Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews. 20 Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek. 21 The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, “Do not write ‘The King of the Jews,’ but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews.”
Have you ever noticed how some people are NEVER happy?! I know people like this. They judge harshly and tell you how things should be. They correct your view of Holy to only make you better… and IF you play their way…you have still done it wrong, you are still not good enough and they are still not happy.

Jesus, remind me to run from these people. Catch me when I am becoming one. Help me to always honor you in what I say, what I expect and what I do.
